I think this sounds fairly reasonable. Minimum spec will give very low image quality an less items on screen. Meeting recommended spec will be an average affair. You'll need something pretty special to run in top spec though. SLi, 4GB RAM, higher end C2Duo or Quad core.

If you're finding it difficult to meet minimum spec you're well over due an upgrade. To expect a modern game to run on a 2 generation's old technology pc, with any kind of smoothness, is asking alot. The fact that this will run on a P4/AGP based system is astounding. The reason Crysis requires such a beast is in part due to being a DX10/Vista platform title.

Greetings fans. I'm Australian. so FC2 has only been released here, but I'm yet to buy it. This is the system I currently use:

Intel Q6600 @ 3.0ghz
8gb 800mhz ddr2 RAM
Powercooler ATI 3870X2 1gb DDR4
22" LCD @ 1650x1050

Cost me $2250

While this system can run Crysis comfotably with dx9, it sucks on dx10, consistanlty dropping below 30fps.

I like to look if the Dunia engine, it looks more capable and stable than cryengine 2, which is simply astounding because Ce2 has a higher system reqs, and constanly suffers errors on dx10.

I take it on simple assumption that FC2 will have dx10 rendering options?

Yes it has DX9/DX10 check box, you will be able to run it just fine. My system specs are similar to yours. Only real difference is our CPU and vid card. I am running a qx6700 and 8800gtx for vid and I can run on ultra settings with everything maxed and I get about 35 to 45fps.

Far easier to run this at max with AA and DX10 than Crysis. If I max Crysis with AA and DX10 I have about 20 FPS. And if I do the same with Far Cry 2 I have about steady 50-60 FPS.

I ran it on DX10 and the textures went all red/blue/green I haven't upgraded my ATI drivers so thats probably the cause... I have not checked my FPS yet.

Speaking for PCs only, if you have the right hardware this is the best looking game currently available and easier on your hardware than Crysis. Q9550 (stock clock), 4 GB Crucial RAM, 300 GB Velociraptor, ATI 4870 X2, X-Fi Fatality Titanium, 24" Samsung 1920 x 1200: Far Cry 2; All settings at very high (no AA or ASF) average fps = 42.

And all this means FC2 runs like a dream...
