We know that a lot of you were really happy to see how quickly we came up with our first patch, but at the same time, some of you were disappointed because many of the major issues you reported to us in your feedback were not in.
As some of you may already know, we have a video Q&A going on with the dev. For us it’s a way to maintain dialog between you and the team that created the game, but it doesn’t mean that we will not provide any information about our upcoming updates.
As we already told you, the 1.01 PC patch was our first step, and thanks to your contributions we can now tell you what kind of improvements you could expect from our upcoming patch.

General
Allow player to select display mode for Widescreen view in the display options
Improve server list with filter options (ping, punkbuster, server name, maps, game mode, dedicated server…)

Multiplayer
Allow match search from the maps leaderboard
Add minimum players setting in host options
Order scoreboard by point
Add an option to set respawn time for the host
Show VIP on scoreboard
Allow PC user to use Clan tag
IP display in the lobby server

Server
Add new functions to dedicated server
Allow the same server to host more than one game at a time

You can expect the next patch to be deployed within the next couple of weeks. We will also update you shortly on what’s coming next for the consoles versions of the game.

Please take note that a lot of different fixes and issues are not mentioned here, it doesn’t mean that we are not working on them. Still it is not likely that all reported issues can and will be fixed. If you have an issue or some feedback you wish to share, please be sure to report it to customer support or on our Far Cry 2 Tech support forum

Ubisoft have announced that Far Cry 2 has sold over one million units worldwide (360, PS3 and PC) in just under three weeks since the game was released.

The holiday quarter is off to a solid start with the successful launch of Far Cry 2
said Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer at Ubisoft.

The game is well on track to achieve our expectations for the year.
What they don't tell you though, is that the game is a massive flop with only a handful of multiplayer servers supporting the PC version of the game, with far to much emphasis being placed upon the all singing all dancing map editor.. and its all backfired.

No one is submitting any maps because they cannot get on line to play multiplayer and scores of people are complaining the single player is repetitive and boring.
Ubisoft brought out a recent patch for the PC to try and resolve a few single player problems, and have yet to comment on the state of affairs regarding the multiplayer.

My own personal feelings are very clear, this is unfortunately the last Ubisoft game I buy.
Please dont let me be the judge of this recent news, head on over to the Official Farcry 2 Forums and read a few threads.
- Fixed a problem where a player could get stuck (and couldn’t get killed) after pressing the interaction key while wounded and getting rescued by a teammate at the same time.

Thanks all for your patience as we continue working on improving your gaming experience.
It still has a dam long way to go in my personal opinion, and we are in regular contact with fellow gamers, that all say the same... sort it out !

VortezHardware released a nice true article some 10 days ago, and its only just come to light to me, so i thought i would publish it.

I have not published any new news since the game was released because of my sheer disappointment with the game... It has so much potential, yet it is no fun to play.

Anyway on with VortezHardware article, It goes with out saying these days that the bigger magazines and websites MUST have contracts with the bigger gaming companies, because why do they get all the news and videos first, why do they praise the games so much, when in fact there so rubbish.. trash in fact.

At least VortezHardware speaks the truth !

Far Cry was indeed an absolute classic. It's hard to think that the game is so many years old and it still looks and feels so fantastic. The lighting, shadows, character detail and overall story was phenomenal and there has been little to match up to the standards Far Cry set. With this in mind Far Cry 2 really did have huge expectations.

Throughout the game you are given missions which you have to fulfil. This can become quite tedious. Very similar to the style which is adopted in Assassins Creed. You obtain a mission brief, carry out the objective and return to receive the next brief. This for me felt quite repetitive. It's very much the case of drive here, shoot up enemies, drive there shoot up some more enemies. The distance you have to travel to complete missions really slows down the gameplay and you might well get bored quite quickly.
And to finish it off they say that the game does not merit a purchase, which is also my opinion !

To conclude, this game was far from what I expected. With the high expectations that Far Cry the original set, Far Cry 2 did have some tough goals to achieve and sadly I feel they have not been. Enemy battles are the very much the same at the beginning of the game as they are through to the end, you might find this fun for 30 minutes but for the duration of the game itself? it gets quite boring. The bad points put aside, the game is a visual paradise but is this enough to merit it being a worthwhile purchase? I'm not too sure it is.
View the full article over at VortezHardware Thanks guys for speaking the truth !

Fudzilla have heard that a few Nvidia partners will ship Far Cry 2 bundled with some of their more expensive cards. This should look similar to the Crysis bundle that a few partners made last year but we also learned that this time, Far Cry 2 won't cost partners that much.

Nvidia is kind of desperate to boost the sales and has to use all the tricks it has in its sleeve. Nvidia's chips are inferior to ATI's and therefore they have to either drop the price and include the candy in the bundle, if not both. What goes around comes around, and Nvidia has to learn how to survive as a graphics underdog and this is not the position where Nvidia fells comfortable.

Far Cry 2 will look good as a sticker in the box and getting this game together with your card is definitely something that will make some people to deflect to Nvidia just for the sake of the game.

The irony of this situation is that Far Cry 2 will use some DirectX 10.1 features and currently Nvidia doesn't have a single card that can cope with DirectX 10.1. Nvidia will rather wait for DirectX 11 to upgrade.

Fudzillas sources have just confirmed that Far Cry 2 will be a DirectX 10.1 game. We know that Nvidia has its eye on this game and that it likes it as much as it liked the original Crysis back in October 2007 but they couldn't prevent the developer to put the DirectX 10.1 support.

ATI will shortly release a hotfix driver that should boost the performance of this game of Radeon HD 4870 X2 significantly and we our sources are confident that this driver should be enough to beat Geforce GTX 280 in this game.

I picked my gaming name and entered into my first server to be met by the sound of rockets exploding and jeeps whizzing passed with the glare of scoped weapons in the distant hills, it is a sight that will remain with me always

I bought the game not knowing anything about first person shooters my only online experience was playing Diablo 2 on cold winter nights exchanging swords and slashing demons whilst talking to people about objects and spells I did not know anything about. Then I read an article about a new game coming out called farcry, I had just purchased a new Pc and was pleased it could run farcry, so I waited for the release date went out on my lunch break at work and waited anxiously to get home at Five o’clock to install it.

After installing the game I started the single player game and I stuttered my way through the first section of the game (in a sewer if I remember correctly) dodging and weaving my way through debris and fallen girders, Then came the part of the game that made me sit back in my chair and gasp for air , That was the first sight of the sea and trees with the mountain background glowing with colours with birds flying by and fish swimming in the sea, it looked so real I could imagine the heat of the sun and the humidity of the jungle, that image soon ended when I came across my first enemy and to my surprise he chased me (yes I ran away). after that first encounter started the epic adventure that was to give me many sleepless nights and many hours of day dreaming in work.

Part way through the single player game I decided to venture into the Multiplayer side of the game, I picked my gaming name and entered into my first server to be met by the sound of rockets exploding and jeeps whizzing passed with the glare of scoped weapons in the distant hills, it is a sight that will remain with me always, this was the first impression I got when I first logged into multiplayer and I was addicted from that point.

I spent many hours trying to learn the game exploring the extremely large maps and perfecting the many skills that would take me through many matches and into the late hours of the night. The maps where very enjoyable and well made and that sound of the flag siren still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up This was Assault this was farcry to me it was the greatest computer game ever made and I still play it today.

But The first farcry did have its problems with excessive punkbuster kicks for reasons nothing to do with cheating and a very poor netcode that frustrated many players, many bugs where discovered and some patches failed, some players tried to ruin the game with hacks but for some reason I still carried on playing.

I tried to play other games but always came back to farcry why I did not know at the time? But when Ubisoft released details of farcry 2 without the Assault Mode I realised that it was the game play I liked with the excitement of defending your base and outwitting other teams, it was a place to have fun and to have banter with the opposite team somehow this game mode gave you this excitement and community spirit that made the game enjoyable.

I met many new friends playing farcry online and played in some great clans, many have stopped playing and some clans moved onto other games but I live to hope that farcry 2 will bring back some familiar names and hopefully in time Ubisoft will realise that farcry 2 without Assault wont be the same, I don’t doubt it will be a great game but I want to hear that siren blasting in my ears and the screams from team members shouting “touch the flag touch the flag”. Time will tell but for now bring on farcry 2 and let the new adventure begin.

Ubisoft’s told videogaming 24/7that you’ll be downloading user-created Far Cry 2 maps both from Ubisoft’s servers and other gamers’ consoles: it all depends on speed.

The service is through Xbox.com or PSN’s network, but it’s on Ubisoft’s server

There are two strategies, because if you created a map and then if you [set up] a match with it, people that connect to your game will download it from you

But if you post it on Ubisoft’s server, then players will connect to your game but they won’t have your map. The engine will select which has the best connection - is it from you or the Ubisoft server? - and then it will download it from the fastest connection
Read the entire article over at videogaming 24/7 Glad im playing on the PC !
Ubisoft reckons players will create 'art' using Far Cry 2's map editor.
Multiplayer producer Richard Gaetan told VideoGamer.com in an interview, due to be published early next week, that Far Cry 2, along with other games with user-generated features, like the PS3's LittleBigPlanet, is evidence that the industry has reached "Gaming 2.0".
Players have already built recreations of well-known landmarks, like the Eiffel Tower, using Far Cry 2's map editor, and Gaetan expects to see maps that are less focused on actual first-person-shooter gaming, and more focussed on "art", when the game is released October 24.
Read the full article at Videogamer.com
Will be interesting to see what landmarks appear in users maps maybe we should run a competition.

Far Cry 2 'more fun' than Call of Duty 4

Videogamer recently did there hands on multiplayer write-up, and have quoted multiplayer producer Richard Gaetan saying it will be more fun.

When pushed to answer whether he thought Far Cry 2 was a better game than CoD4, Gaetan replied:

I think it's more fun for everybody. In Call of Duty 4, the good guys are always the same, they always play the same way. In Far Cry 2 you cannot do that. You have to adapt, you have to change your strategy. And with the map editor you won't be able to learn your maps, because you have so many and if you want to play with your friends and with different people then you have to switch - it will be a bit of a surprise all of the time. So I think it's more fun.
So that's his own personal opinion; which he is entitled to, and may have been pushed into by sneaky wording.

I think its rather naughty of them to start comparing such great games, they are both different games.
If Gaetan did say that, I think he may have been pushed into it. Why ? Ill explain...

CoD4 players do play a specific way, lol probably like absolutely every other player as well, Its called there OWN way. To say that CoD 4 players alone always play the same way, Just sounds stupid ?
Surely players adapt to there environment, and learn to play how the game wants them to play. After some time you learn what is the best way to achieve certain tasks and objectives and how weapons and maps differ, so that would mean the game moulds players, and not visa versa...
